REMEMBRANCE SONGS OF PRAISE

with La Ronde Concert Band and

Jersey Festival Choir

Islanders are invited to take part in a special Remembrance Songs of Praise at the Town Church in St. Helier on Sunday 14th November 2010 at 6pm.

La Ronde Concert Band, under conductor Robert Wareing-Jones, and Jersey Festival Choir, conducted by Elizabeth Farnon, will lead the audience in a special Songs of Praise for Remembrance. The songs will be interspersed with selected readings and the evening will include a special rendition of Evening Hymn and Last Post followed by Reflection for the Fallen.

A retiring collection will be taken for the benefit of Jersey-based charity Holidays for Heroes and the Jersey Branch of The Royal British Legion.

Mr. Wareing-Jones said: “We held this event for the first time last year and it was a wonderful occasion. We raised the magnificent sum of £1,000, thanks to a most generous pound-for-pound scheme provided by Lloyds TSB.

“This year’s event will give everyone an opportunity to sing a selection of hymns specially chosen for the occasion while being led by the wonderful Jersey Festival Choir. La Ronde Concert Band will also play an arrangement of Evening Hymn and Last Post so that the congregation can spend some time in contemplative silence to pay tribute to all those who have served and given their lives in the name of peace and in the cause of freedom.

“At the end of the event we will ask for a donation as people exit the Church on behalf of the work of Holidays for Heroes and the Royal British Legion, "lest we forget". However; anyone wishing to make a donation can do so direct to the Church Warden at the Town Church marked ‘Remembrance Songs of Praise’.”
